My father gifted me a phone for graduating 10th grade, and I got hooked on the camera app. I became fascinated by abstract patterns and aesthetic objects around me, clicking whatever caught my eye on an old Redmi Note.

Right after JEE in 2016, I bought a mirrorless camera and a prime lens. Street photowalks, fashion shoots, and I kept getting better (streets still have my heart though) Post-processing followed, and I discovered Photoshop and Lightroom the same curious, FAFO-ing way.

After my Bachelor's in IT, stuck between computers and everything else I found fascinating, I chose a middle path: Designer in Tech.

In 2022, I joined Xenett, a bootstrapped startup, as an intern. I built a Fintech SaaS webapp for accountants, got promoted to Product Designer, and owned end to end design for Xenett 2.0.

I now practice Marketing and Communications Design at Hive Pro, lean team of 3. Collaterals, motion graphics, levaraging AI for good copy and automation.

Outside design, I research random topics for the kick, play story driven games, and love good writing. Away from screens, I'm biking, swimming, cafe-hopping, or reading Articles, with a coffee in hand.

Accountants spend hours every day manually entering and checking data from receipts, invoices, and bank statements. Making sure everything is categorized correctly and error-free is slow, repetitive work.

This case study covers Cleanup Mode, a feature module in Xenett 2.0 built to make that process faster and less error-prone for accountants.

A design agency had worked with stakeholders on this project before I joined. I came on with other in-house designers to help scale and organize the system as Xenett grew.

Xenett's original strength was Speed Mode, a transaction review tool. Once we did more market research, we found accountants were dealing with a wider set of problems than Speed Mode addressed on its own — which pushed us to expand the offering.

Speed Mode was rebuilt and repositioned as Cleanup Mode — designed to cover the full cleanup workflow, not just transaction review.

Ideal user: an accountant, working at a small-to-medium business or a public accounting firm. Day to day, they typically:

Prepare taxes — filings for individuals and businesses, keeping up with tax codes.

Handle bookkeeping — recording transactions, classifying them, and reconciling accounts.

Build financial reports — balance sheets and income statements summarizing financial health.

Communicate with clients — regular updates on financial standing, tax obligations, and open questions.

Juggle many clients at once, with overlapping deadlines and no room for dropped details.

Reception wasn't universally instant. Some users appreciated the more powerful workflow right away, while others initially preferred the simplicity of the original single-purpose mode. It was a useful reminder that even a clear improvement needs a gradual rollout and clear communication to land well.

Overall, feedback had stayed positive since, with accountants specifically calling out the time saved on repetitive cleanup work.
